NGF with the money donated by members and donors is in the process of extending help to the tsunami affected people in India. NGF raised US $6725 equivalent to approximately Indian Rs.285,000.
Six 20 kg with 75 kanns fishing nets to Koraikuppam, an island near Chennai in Tamilnadu, was given to "Magalir Mandrams" (women's club) in the village. These self-help women?s group are the members of this affected island who would share the nets among affected families in the villages.
Similar kind of nets were distributed to another island Santhakuppam near Chennai in Tamilnadu as well. |
